Alexandra Martin holds a Masters of Public Policy and Global Affairs from the University of British Columbia. In her academic studies Alexandra has focused on the development of institutional requirements for algorithmic decision explainability, ethical adoption of AI systems, and the advancement of Canadian small and medium sized tech businesses in the South-East Asian market–the latter of which she engaged with in the field during supplementary studies at the National University of Singapore’s Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.  

In addition to her studies, she served as a Policy Analyst with the Artificial Intelligence Hub in Innovation, Science, and Economic Development Canada where she has supported the Canadian Federal Government’s efforts in including conducting public engagement research on citizen perceptions of AI, designing a new funding stream to assist with AI commercialization in systemically underserved and marginalized communities, and participating in negotiations for the formation of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence, an initiative by the G7 and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
